Host a Trunk or Volunteer!

Everything we do at GVHH is a group effort!  Pumpkinfest is no exception!  Let's have fun and make some memories together!

Host a Trunk!

If you've never been to a Trunk or Treat before and aren't sure what one is, let's talk about it!  Cars are lined up side by side to where their trunks face the trick-or-treat area.  The trunks are decorated.  The kids say "trick or treat" and the car owner or host passes out candy.  Here are some awesome examples of trunks.

Your trunk can include a game for the kids to play, or it can be just cool to look at.  Be creative and have fun!

Trunk Hosting Guidelines
  • Sign up to host a trunk by October 15th.

  • Set up time starts at 3:15pm.  Please have your trunk set up and ready to go by 4:15pm.

  • Due to the pandemic, candy cannot be handed directly to the children or touched by multiple children (no bowl of candy where they reach in).  Some creative ideas include using a PVC pipe shoot, or a grabber with a creepy hand.

  • Keep in mind that this is for kids of all ages, so keep your trunk on the cute side please.  Spooky fun is okay, but no blood and gore.  There's no crying on Halloween!

  • No homemade treats please

  •  Candy must be individually wrapped

  • It is okay to give out non-candy treats like pencils or cute little prizes if you prefer

  • Bring enough candy for 75 kids.  Yes, this is a big number and we are over-estimating, but we want to be prepared.

  • You must stay with your trunk and greet the families from 4:30-5:15pm.

There are so many ways to volunteer!  Here is a list for you to consider:

All of these positions are on Friday, October 30th

  • 3:00pm-4:15pm: Event set up

  • 7:15pm-9pm: Event tear down

  • 4:15pm-6:35pm: Time keeper (keep us on track by announcing and ushering families to the next activity area.  This position ends with pressing "play" on the movie at 6:35pm)

  • 5:20-6:20pm: Bingo Caller (best job EVER, right?!?)

  • 5:00pm-6:35pm: Popcorn Bar (pop the corn, set up the bar, hand out bags of popcorn to families. Three people needed here)

  • 5:10-6:20pm: Craft Leader (show kids how to make the craft, help as needed)

  • 5:00-6:20pm: Food Servers (serve families their food while adhering to pandemic safety guidelines. 4 people needed here.  This job includes food prep work.)

Note: if you are also hosting a trunk, you cannot take a volunteer position that conflicts with the 4:30-5:15pm Trunk or Treat time unless you have someone to host your trunk during that time.
